Following heightened speculation, Google announced a new look to their Google Maps on Wednesday with a complete overhaul.
Google has rebuilt Google Maps from "the ground up" with the focus on the design and interactions from the user directly on the map. Google now comes fully-loaded with Google Earth and Street View at the users disposal allowing them to explore stunning google imagery as well as user-generated photos from all over the globe.
Google Maps now also creates a personalised tailor-made map for every search and interaction you make, and incorporates Zagat badges and restaurant reviews. Additionally, users can quickly find offers in a certain area such as a Starbucks listing can now offer half price deals to customers directly from Google Maps. It integrates with Google Now and makes smart recommendations based on your history that are specifically for you, the more you use it, the more accurately it can reflect your interests.
Users can click on any point on the map to display an information card that allows you to get directions to that spot or access Street View for imagery. A new designed carousel will appear at the bottom that allows you to view all the user-generated photo tours and 3D imagery provided by Google Earth.
Finally, Google Maps aims to be a GPS device killer. Users can re-route directions based on traffic conditions seen on the map and view side by side how long routes will take, which is the quickest, longest, shortest, etc!
